Day One: Arrival

So yesterday I finally made it to New York City safe and sound thank God! It was my first time flying and I will say I was pretty scared minutes before getting on. I started double thinking everything but when the plane took off it was cool. The view was absolutely amazing and it felt surreal.

It was a straight shot and it went smooth. When we were flying towards the city and I saw the city, I was in awe. Awesome view!
It's my first time in New York City as well.

When I got my luggage I rode my first taxi and he drove pretty fast. 50 outside the city and 40 inside the city!
He was safe though. Got to my destination completely fine. I checked into my dorm and then started exploring a bit.

I stayed close around Washington Square Park. It's actually safer than you'd expect. I can see the Freedom Tower and the Empire State Building but there a pretty far walk from where I am so I haven't gone just yet.

The weather is really nice. Not too hot but it gets hot because of walking around a lot otherwise no problem! It stays pretty busy with people always walking around. Then in the park there's always street performers. I've seen a small folk band play and also a jazz band.

There was also this guy that played piano for a few hours. Had orientation later on and they explained the whole program. They said were basically college students and will be treated like it mostly. Afterwards we had a campus tour and then were let go.
I finally met my roommate then and he turned out to be pretty interesting. I ended up going back out to see Washington Square Park at night and it is still amazing.
Peaceful and relaxing.

With that said, first day was a success. I thank God for everything going so smoothly. Today is still going so I'll post tomorrow on what today consisted of!
